Erlendur has been diving since 1993 and has among others been working for the Marine Research Institute.

He has been working independently, for his own diving company in recent years and has for example been working on projects with the University of Akureyri and other institutes all around Iceland. He has been, among others, working off Surtsey island, in Ásbyrgi canyon and of course in Eyjafjörður fjord.

Erlendur does also teach diving in his company Strýtan.
